An aerial photo of Merstham House, the seat of the Jolliffe family (Lord Hylton) until 1899.
It was let until the 2nd World War, when it was occupied by the Canadian forces.
It was pulled down in the 1950s and the M25 was built through the grounds in the late 1970s.
Gatton Bottom can be seen curving along the top of the picture below the dovecote which still stands
(following repairs in 1991). The old Rectory is mainly hidden behind the trees to the right.

Please can anyone tell me where Leiutenant William Jolliffe who died at this house on 1 June 1876, aged 75 is buried.

I was evacuated age 4 to Merstham and lived in Merstham House from September 1939 ~ summer 1940. My older sister has died and we lived there with June and Francis. Does anyone else remember this period? Comment 5
